Portable ops

I ventured up the Slieve Bloom Mountains today to the Ridge of Capard (IO63GC) and set up my latest acquisition – an Arrow II portable antenna (which is primarily for satellite operation) but features 3 elements for 2m and 7 elements for 70cms. Its light and dismantles easily without tools.  It has a duplexer built into the handle and this imposes a 10 watt limit on power output.  I called CQ on 144.300 for around 2 hours without reply which was a bit depressing.  However when I finished up I checked the cluster and noticed that I had been spotted by GI4SNA so that answered the question of whether my signal was going anywhere!  At least the weather was fine albeit a bit windy so my XYL and junior ops were able to enjoy a nice walk.
